iPhone OS 4.0 Likely To be Announced This Thursday!

Apple just started sending out press-invites for a special event this Thursday. The invite among other things reads “Get a sneak peek into the future of iPhone OS”. This comes immediately after the release of iPad which now indicates the announcement of the new iPhone, iPhone HD or iPhone 4G as you may call it.
The iPhone OS 4.0 which will be announced this Thursday is most likely to come loaded on the new iPhone that will (probably) be released in June, 2010.

Apple had earlier announced the iPhone OS 2.0 and iPhone OS 3.0 the same way, and there was this traditional invite-only event for the purpose. Apple recently released the iPhone OS 3.1.3 which is said to be released only to patch the exploits used to Jailbreak previous OS versions.

Among other advancements, iPhone OS 4.0 is also expected to offer the multitasking functionality on iPhone, iPod Touch and now iPad. Rumors have it that Apple will use a feature called Apple Expose to enable multitasking on iPhone, this is the same feature used on Mac OS X.

This is good news for all iPhone owners, including the ones who own the Jailbreaked and Unlocked iPhones because the Dev-team who has already unlocked the latest baseband and Jailbreaked the new iPhone OS was waiting for the next major release to make their patch available.

Though this wont happen until June-July, we at least now have a date to look forward to.
