Google Cloud Printing Beta Now Available For Windows

At the Chrome OS launch event a couple of days ago, Google previewed Chrome notebooks that are the first devices to support Google Cloud Print which is an internet cloud-based printing solution by Google.

Google Cloud Print users can print documents from anywhere or using any device to a web-connected printer. This means that, if a users requests a document print using this feature, his request will be forwarded to the Google server, which will translate it and direct a print to the nearest available printer from your location.

This eliminates any printer drivers compatibility hassles that you are afraid of as all the required drivers will be already stored in Google Servers. So, you can print from anywhere to anywhere. All that is required is a Google ID, an internet connected computer and a corresponding Google Cloud Print app.

According to Google :

“By connecting your printer with the Google Cloud you will be able to print to your printer from any computer or smart phone, regardless of where you are. Just activate the Google Cloud Print connector in Google Chrome and your printer will automatically be available to you from Google Cloud Print enabled web and mobile apps.”

Respecting the privacy concerns of users, Google doesn’t store the entire document that was printed – at least no longer after your print job is accomplished. However, whatever documents are printed using cloud printing Google are indexed as log records on Google servers which are naturally associated with the Google ID that’s used to print these documents. Users have the liberty to edit or delete this records if they desire.
With the launch of Google Chrome OS and the advent of cloud-based printing solutions, handling print jobs has become easier than ever. The best part is that Google Cloud Print is not confined to supporting only a single platform.

Rather, the Google wireless printing solution will be available across all Google supported devices including smartphones, netbooks and desktop computers. But for now, Google is working to deliver Google Cloud Printing feature to Chrome OS –based devices.

Google Printing support is currently available for Windows XP, Vista and Seven operating systems. Support for Mac and Linux is reportedly underway. To try out Google Printing, the compatible systems should be running the latest build of Google Chrome beta. Click here to know more.
