Unlock Your iPhone using your HeartBeats

I can’t really say that I have ever used a biometric sensor that works as promised. My friend has a HP laptop that has a fingerprint sensor. He could swipe his finger a hundred times and never log in with it! It worked so poorly that he hardly ever used it.

Now, Apple has a new idea for allowing a user to log into future iPhones using biometric sensors! The patent application for the feature has surfaced and shows sensors in the iPhone case that would read the users heart rhythm when they pick up the phone.

These heart readings can be used to identify the user and allow them access to the iPhone if approved. There is little information yet on exactly how the user would be identified.

It seems like you simply hold your iPhone in your hand and it will recognize if it you or someone else messing around with your bond-like gadget!

The proposed technology is just at the patent stage, and not all patents make their way to the products, but if this technology is successfully implemented in the future iPhones, then the future is really here.

Biometrics is nothing new but we all know that Apple takes something that exists and makes it even better. Though this is an ambitious feature to implement for mobile phones, I for one look forward to it. :)
