AT&T makes internet more affordable to cellular users

In the name of "making internet more affordable to more people”, ATT has obliterated the unlimited data plans for the iPhone and iPad as well. However, the ATT voice and texting plans will remain unadulterated.

A new announcement by AT&T concerning the data plans also discloses about the availability of iPhone tethering. AT&T will exercise two novel data plans through June 7 which include the AT&T DataPlus and AT&T DataPro.

Customers subscribing to the AT&T DataPlus plan will get 200MB of data usage for $15 per month. Further, for every 200MB worth of data beyond the monthly usage limit, AT&T will press a $15 bill to your account.

Reportedly, the DataPlus plan is good enough to go with about 65% of AT&T’s customers easily. However, if your monthly data usage needs cross the limits considerably, maybe you should consider opting for the AT&T DataPro customer plan.

Under this plan, you get 2GB of data for $25 a month, which according to AT&T is required by only 2% of its smartphone customers. In case, you step beyond the line of monthly usage, an additional $10 will be charged for each GB of data exceeding beyond the specified limit.

Until now, AT&T has been offering an unlimited data plans to its customers for $30 a month. But perhaps, since not many customers really feed upon that amount of data, AT&T has decided to cast off the AT&T unlimited data plans for the new smartphone users.

In addition to this, AT&T will allow iPhone tethering for a monthly charge of $20 once the iPhone OS 4.0 becomes available. But, tethering on iPhone (iPad tethering not allowed) is allowed to customers opting for the DataPro plan only.
