Apple to rent movies on the iPad?

Apple has launched products and created services that never existed before and took the company beyond any ones expectations. At the moment Apple is worth $12 Billion more than Microsoft and almost a $100 Billion more than Google.

Apple seemingly has done done it all.

The company regained its position in the industry by making entertainment more accessible and easy to use in terms of hardware and software, both.

Apple currently commands 70% of the market share for MP3 Players in U.S. iPhone sales are stronger than ever and there are no sign of slowing down. Sale of 8.75 million units in a single quarter makes iPhone the biggest revenue driver at 40% of the total revenue.

All these hardware sales fuel the revenue generation from Apps and Music on iTunes. Apple is currently the industry leader when it comes to App downloads and selling Music.

Launching the iPad is just one part of the puzzle that will create a new revenue stream for the company. Apple will certainly try to replicate the success it had with iPods & Music, iPhone & Apps and now with iPad and Movies.

At the moment it’s not clear how Apple will achieve the success with movies as there are no obvious offering from Apple to accelerate its movie rental segment.

With the recent acquisition of LALA.com and shutting it down just in time for the WWDC, its quite obvious that LALA is all set for a re-launch with the new services at the conference this week.

Apple is expected to make some BIG announcements at WWDC 2010 including the next-gen of iPhone - iPhone 4G. Rumors have it that Apple will also unveil its Apple TV 2.0 based on the iPhone OS. The new Apple TV is said to be cloud based which offers access to movies anywhere anytime, this is where LALA can come into the picture.

So is Netflix going have a tough road ahead? Let see...
