It was an RSS man who killed Gandhiji

Hitting out at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Sunday accused the saffron outfit of pursuing terror tactics.

"It was an RSS man who killed Gandhiji. RSS is pursuing terror. It was involved in terror plots," Azad alleged.

Addressing a function here in connection with Mahatma Gandhi's 63rd death anniversary, the senior Congress leader said that the RSS' name has surfaced repeatedly in the communal riots across the country in the past few decades.

"Be it Malegaon or Mecca Masjid blasts, Sangh activists have accepted that it was involved," the former J&K chief minister said.

Azad said it took the security agencies 10 years to track the involvement of Sangh in the various terror attacks which created a communal divide.  Praising the secular traditions of the security forces and intelligence agencies, Azad said it was Hindu officers who tracked the involvement of Sangh people in the terrorist activities.

"We should praise the secularism of our agencies that they never discriminated or tried to save the people because they were Hindus," the Union Health Minister said.

Azad said that the majority population in India believes in secularism.

"That is the beauty of the country especially when compared with our neighbourhood which is in a total mess. See the condition of Afghanistan,Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan where there is total chaos. But look at India where every community is progressing and moving ahead in a peaceful way," he said.
