Report Bus Drivers Mobile Driving On Facebook & Get Paid!

In an effort to ensure road safety and bring road accidents under control, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) in Pune, India is using Facebook as one of the means to effectively implement mobile driving ban.

Pune, the eighth largest metropolis in India, has put up a PMPML’s Facebook page that will urge users to post pictures of bus drivers using cell phones while driving. Subsequently, PMPML will consider the posted pictures and take the necessary action against the convicted drivers.

Users can not only just report pics of mobile driving of mass transportation vehicles like buses but also get a handsome reward for their effort to report a genuine case. PMPML will reward Rs.1,000 to citizens who post such pictures.

Gone are the days when social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter were primarily used for connecting with friends, exchanging wall posts and comments or promoting businesses. The world is adapting to the change, and the change is for the better.

According to a
Times of India report,

As part of the road safety campaign, the PMPML has created bus bays at three bus-stops at the district collectorate, Simla office junction and near Balgandharvara Rangmandir on JM Road. IIt has put up barricades to ensure that buses stop close to the stops and not in the middle of the road. The halting of buses in the middle of the road results in frequent traffic blockades. The PMPML has appealed to commuters to wait at bus-stops and not use the road space.
