iPhone : Made for Kids, Made by Kids
As predicted and sincerely hoped for by millions the Tsunami warning turned out to be nothing more than an exercise in an extreme measure of precautionary measure. All the earthlings in the Pacific Rim (Except for Chile) can now rejoice. But Nahk tells me not to be so sure because he predicts an after-shock effect in the region. Well, I hope he is wrong.
Another interesting thing I found you Elings (earthlings - Nahk says this sounds 'cooler'!) to savour is the gadget called an 'iPhone'. I am not sure what is so advanced about it (Ofcourse I am from another planet literally!). But what bogged me down was reports in your media that this was made by small Elings who hardly seem to have a life!
This organization called 'Apple' (I thought that was a delicious fruit!) had this reported in the media:
The underage workers, Apple says, were at three different suppliers' facilities. Though the specific locations aren't disclosed, the report says inspectors visited facilities in China, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United States. The factories in question built iPhones, iPods, and various Apple computers.
And if that was not enough my new Elings friends in this organization say that most of them are over-employed! Nahk tells me not to disclose their names but this seems to have been already reported in the Eling Media.
Here is an extract:
"More than 60 different facilities were also overworking their employees, Apple says. Apple's code requires suppliers to work employees no more than 60 hours a week with "at least one day a rest per seven days of work."
Beyond that, Apple's audit found two dozen facilities that were paying their people less than the minimum required wage and another 57 that were cheating workers out of legally required benefits -- things like sick time and maternity leave. Some factories even cut workers' wages for "disciplinary purposes," according to Apple's report.
Apple says it's requiring the suppliers to develop new measures to correct the violations."
Whatever the fact is I am astounded that a species of this intellect is even morally capable of slaving its own members. And to think that Nahk thought that aliens like me will one day invade this blue rock to enslave it. I find probability of the opposite happening especially after that watching that 'Avatar' movie. (By the way, you Elings have an extraordinary way to express yourselves!)
I hope that the next time I do this blogging thing I have something happier to share. Frankly, the last two attempts have made me 'SAD'.
