India to launch video phone for video calls


You can now make video calls with BSNL broadband connection. All you have to do is to procure two video phone machines.


Chennai BSNL has also written to state government, explaining salient features of the new facility and how it can be used by government to improve its communication between the district administration and state headquarters.

According to BSNL sources, video meeting multi party calling or conferencing can be easily done with the new facility, Ability to connect to LCDs and projectors will give impetus to video communication.

Voice and video on broadband (VVoBB) service has already been launched in Delhi and will soon be launched in Chennai, says BSNL spokesperson G Vijaya.

The service enables “one-to-one” and also “one-to-many” video calling among BSNL/MTNL numbers.

The customer has to tap the screen, select the person from the address book and then press “dial,” easy for the less tech-savvy persons too. Instant one-to-one secure video call from the desk and always on mode are the other salient features.

There is no need to log on using a computer and installation of two video call phones will serve the purpose, explains Vijaya.
